1. Who We Are
This website, Manchester Photo Spots (https://manchesterphotospots.co.uk), is run by James Sheriff. If you have any questions about this policy, get in touch at j@sheriff.studio.
2. What Data We Collect
Personal data you give us directly The only way we receive personal data directly is if you email us at j@sheriff.studio. We don’t run a newsletter, registration form, or comment system.
Data collected automatically when you visit When any browser loads a page, a web server receives:
- Your IP address
- Your browser and operating system (user agent)
- Which page you requested and the referring URL
- The date and time of the request
Our hosting provider handles this data. We don’t access raw server logs ourselves.
Analytics data (Plausible) We use Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is used — pages visited, referrer sources, country, device type. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect or store personal data. All metrics are aggregated and anonymous.
Advertising data (Google AdSense) If you consent to personalised advertising, Google AdSense may collect data about your browsing habits across the web to serve relevant ads. If you decline, ads may still appear but they won’t be personalised. See the Cookies section below for full details.
Map data (Mapbox) Interactive maps on this site are powered by Mapbox. When a map loads, your browser connects to Mapbox servers, which may log your IP address.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The table below lists every cookie or local storage item that may be set when you visit Manchester Photo Spots.

4. Lawful Basis (UK GDPR Article 6)
| Processing purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Serving non-personalised ads | Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) |
| Serving personalised ads and ad measurement | Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) |
| Plausible analytics | Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — no personal data or cookies involved |
| Responding to email enquiries | Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) |
5. Consent Mode v2
We use Google Consent Mode v2 integrated with Google Funding Choices, Google’s certified Consent Management Platform.
When you first visit the site, a consent banner appears. Until you make a choice:
- AdSense does not load
- No ad cookies are set
- Google receives only pings with no advertising identifiers (default-deny mode)
If you click Accept all, personalised ads and full measurement are enabled. If you click Reject all (or simply close the banner without choosing), only non-personalised ads may be served and no advertising cookies are set.
Your choice is saved for 13 months. After that, the banner will reappear.
6. How to Change Your Consent
To review or change your cookie preferences at any time, use the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the site footer. This reopens the Funding Choices consent panel where you can update your choice.
